Welcomed with open arms into the local Hall of Fame, Belleville-born hockey star Derek Smith holds numerous accomplishments across both regional and professional levels of world hockey. He later joined the Calgary Flames, playing 94 NHL games, scoring his first goal, and earning recognition as third star of the game. Before retiring in 2017, Smith spent time in Switzerland’s KHL and returned to the AHL to close out his professional career.
