Terry Ryan Terry Ryan Former NHL first-rounder. Actor. Storyteller. In 1993, Ryan was named the Western Hockey League Rookie of the Year and followed that up as the league’s Most Improved Player in 1994. Drafted eighth overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 1995, he played just eight games before a career-ending ankle injury in 2001. In early 2024, Ryan made headlines again—signing with the Newfoundland Growlers of the ECHL and stepping back onto the ice for his first professional hockey game in 20 years. After instigating a fight, he logged seven penalty minutes—proof that some things never change. Now a regular on Shoresy, Ryan has transitioned into the film and television industry with appearances on Republic of Doyle, Letterkenny, Frontier, Little Dog, Caught, Schitt’s Creek, and more.     My Fiancée and I just did our engagement photos with Dave in February - during a crazy snow storm! We live in Toronto and were only visiting home (Carrying Place) for the weekend. When we woke up to a white out, Saturday morning, I was so worried that we would have to cancel the shoot, since I didn't know when we'd be in the area next.
    David pulled through for us! His friendly and down-to-earth demeanor made the photoshoot comfortable and fun despite all of us being frozen.
